During this process we can determine or define five main stages:
- Selection and preparation of breeding scallops
- Spawning and fertilization
- Larval farming
- Metamorphosis and larval settlement
- Post-larval farming
Once larvae are fixed in their collectors, they are carried to the sea to grow. This period lasts around 3-4 months. Size of seed collection is from 5 to 10 mm. Density obtained from collectors varies between 500-1000 scallop seed.
